Projects

It very often that I have some projects ongoing, and here on this site you can find a decription of the projects I am working on right now and there might also be some of the finished projects. Some of there there will be images or drawings of, but others there might just be alot of text.

How much time and money I use on the projects variates alot from project to project. Some are very cheap, others are more expensive. The expences might not be shown on the site.

Most of my projects, I am ofcause making for myself, but sometimes I also makes projects for other people. I will tell if I am making the project for other people - or if other make them for me.

Restoring of

'73 Honda CB350

Once I drove an MZ - but I swapped it for an old Honda, which needed some TLc. It's not the first old motorcycle I have: I am also working on a Yamaha from the 1970s. Here it's a two cylinder Honda CB350 K4, and by the looks of the colours, it seems to be a '72-model with a first registry in 1973.

As I said, the motorcycle neede some TLC, but since am already working on alot of other projects, this project is outsourced. One of my good friends is the project manager on this project: he coordinates and do the work - and I pay the bills.

The engine needs an overhaul, and he is already working on it. I sometimes get "rapports" of how they far they have come. All moveable parts will be checked, so the engine will be demantles and put togethe again he says. So far it looks very good, only a few parts needed a replacement. There will be used new gaskets and new Sito exhausts.

Custom Samurai

Attention: Suzuki DM50 "Samurai" is a moped only made for the Danish market, due to changes in the moped law in 1980

I got a Suzuki "Samurai" in trade for a petroltank for a motorcycle. The moped have been standing still for many years, because the owner got himself a motorcycle, and stopped using the moped. But when he heard I also had interest for vintage mopeds, he gave it to me.
It was clear to see that it have been standing still for a very long time - with petrol in the tank! The petrol had been turning bad and ran out throught the petrol cock and down in the carburator where it had "rotted". The petrol cock was had traces of the "rotten" gasoline - and both the petrol tank and the cap was so rusty that a restoration was more or less pointless. But the engine was pretty good!

My friend had a model like this, which was quite original, but had some few faults, e.g. around the rear fork, and this gave me the idea to stip both mopeds and use the best parts for his and the rest for the other one here.

Since the tank was going to be throwned away, I had to find something else to use. First I tried with a Puzh VZ tank, but the frame on the Jap is much thicker than on the Puch, so I needed to find something else. I had a BSA-tank, but it needed a new cock, and my Ardie tank is already reserved for my Ardie. But I found a tank from a Yamaha Virago softtail cruiser, and I thought I could try it out.
My friend and I made a mock-up and both agreed that this was looking good, and talked alot about design, colours and fittings... but more about this later.

As I said, the "good one" had some problems with the rear fork, where one of the suspention fittings was broken, so it only had one damper - but a thicker one, and mine had both springs and a nice rear for; so we swapped the forks and suspention. In the meantime, we talked about how to make a new rear fork and suspention system on this Custom Samurai, so it had a center placed mono spring and a new, tight mudguard.

The project is on going

Restoring of

'66 Mobylette

In sun and rain - in wind and snow - you enjoy the ride on AV42
The French wonder Mobylette AV42
You feel greatest when You drive Mobylette AV42

This was some of the slogans, on the sales brochure of Mobylette AV42 from the Danish importer Knud Madsen. Not only does I have the sales brocure - I have the moped as well!

It needs some TLC, and have had an engine replacemtn. The project is being worked on, on Tuesdays only in the garage at the vintage moped owners club Stemplet (Danish Stemplet (Danish for "The Piston") where me and a good friend is working on it together. The moped will not be repainted, but rost will be removed and stopped, and other bits and pieces will be fixes. Then it's finished it will be given to my little sister so we can ride together.

The engine has been swapped and serviced. Fittet new front sprockets, change-plate/belt-plate, brakes and more. Carburators has been cleaned, and the moped is running wuite ok - but not super. But it will. I need to find the leak in the petrol tank.
